Bill a small rubber ball out of his pocket, and bounced it towards the shifter. "Are you seriously playing catch? I guess so. Oh, and you know the stuff you applied only helps with bruises, right? Yeah... Then you should know that she only had bruises, right? Yep. Then why did you talk about sprains? I have my reasons. Like being an idiot? How long have I done these things for? I know what I'm doing, most of the time." His head was right though, it was a bit pointless to exaggerate that, but he was forming a plan. He thought.
What Bill still couldn't figure was what Kano was thinking. She had to be wondering by now about him, but he wouldn't offer any information until she asked, and even then, he was going to be careful. She didn't need that knowledge on top of everything else right now.

Grinning and catching it, Kano bounced it back. She had slammed it down in a way that it would go high but not far. Chuckling a bit she decided to ask. "How many languages do you speak?" Yes, that was what had been bugging her. Having encountered so many people she shouldn't have and learning things no child should ever need to there had been two options for her when on the streets, accept it all and move on or be paranoid about everything. So anything odd about Bill so far had been noted and ignored, it was doing something that might mean he was going against her interest of staying alive, well...
'I don't think now was a good time to ask, oops. Too late.'

Bill caught it after it bounced a couple of times, bouncing it off the wall towards her. "About four well, and I can understand another two pretty well." He told her after thinking for a moment. He smiled a little, glad that of all the questions she could ask she asked something simple. Still, she was asking questions, so he had his guard up. He was interested to see where this went.

Catching it instead of letting it hit her she tossed it back in the same manner. "The three different languages in the books, are they ones you speak?" Curiosity came to Kano in the strangest of ways, apparently having slammed backwards into some bookshelves being one of them. Also pain, pain came with that action too. There was another thing bothering her- no two things, one not involving Bill at all the other indirectly involving him. The clockmaker did not know the time, and temperature was wobbling again. 'At least he answered.'

"Yes, I can read them all. I'm a bit of a scholar at times, so I've picked these things up over time." Bill told her, catching the ball with ease, bouncing it against the ceiling this time. Was she going somewhere with these questions? Maybe there's something in one of these books she wants to know? The mage was growing only more curious about where this would go, and the ball seemed involved.

Catching it quickly Kano spoke again, "Many of the books looked like duplicates of the same thing in different languages, am I right?" Giving the ball a bounce she tossed it to Bill again, once she knew it was likely she would ask if he knew the time. At least she wasn't bored anymore, the clockmaker was very strange when she couldn't think of something worth doing.

"Yes, and the things lost in translation make for some interesting variations of things." Bill said, catching the ball once again, tossing it underhand right to her. "At least I've found a way to interact with her without being so awkward about it. Still, she's got something on her mind. Or I'm paranoid."

Catching it again Kano tried to think straight, "Do you know the time?" Making it a circle she tossed it in an upwards arch to Bill, not even trying to bounce it. 'Hot. Cold. Hspfj GAH. I don't like this!' It was not the conversation she was having trouble with, and the girl wasn't sure where his black coat was anymore. 'Well I don't need it really...' Shifting in place a bit she blinked a few times trying to avoid having him leave or stop talking.

Bill pulled a small pocket watch out of his pants pocket, her watch to be exact. "Eight in the evening, and this is yours." He said, first carefully tossing her the watch, followed swiftly by the rubber ball, bounced off the floor to give her a tad bit more time to catch both items. The mage didn't know why he had held onto it, maybe to return it to her, or as a trinket if he hadn't found her. Regardless, it didn't matter at this point as he was able to return it.

"Thanks." Catching the watch by its torn strap then catching the ball. 'I don't really have anything to say...' "How absurd does the translation get sometimes?" Tossing the ball back in the same upward arch Kano was having some trouble focusing. Bill was older than her but the clockmaker had plenty of practice ignoring herself and making it near impossible for others to notice, usually through the help of illusion, but she had done it several times without.

Catching the ball, he held onto it for a moment. "They're not all that bad normally, but the worst I saw turned something into a deadly poison without realizing it." Bill told her, tossing the ball back, this time watching her reaction time closely. He had been tracking her reactions and timing, and nothing seemed too off, but he was still concerned, and this was a simple test to see how her mental state was.

Kano was very close when catching it this time, she didn't fumble but the way it had lingered on the edge of making her do so was completely irrelevant to her. "That's quite the mess up between language. Are they amusing or just frustrating to read?" Tossing it back to him in the same soft arch the girl did notice Bill staring. Trying and failing to regain her measured cat like stare, the clockaker simply looked back at him blankly. 'Does he have a question for me?'

"It's a bit annoying while working with it, but I can laugh at it after the fact. And I know the ingredients well enough that I can normally tell when something doesn't make sense." Bill said, about to throw it back to Kano, throwing it up in the air instead. "How does your head feel?" He asked her as he caught the ball, tossing it back to her in the small instance. He wasn't sure if she'd tell him even if she was having an issue, but he thought he should ask.

This time she did fumble, both with the ball and with her words. "I-wha-. I don't really know." Slamming the ball against the ground so it would fly in his general direction Kano tried very had to assess how she was feeling without paying attention to it. Considering that such a feat would be paradoxical the outcome was failure. Giving it heed instead she found it very hard to be more than borderline coherent, it was also hard to ignore again it once she realized it.

This time Bill had to lean forward a bit to catch the ball, he eyed the girl closely. "Lay back down and let me have a look at you. You should be feeling better than this by now..." He muttered as her walked over and kneeled beside her, slipping the ball back into his pocket for the time being.
